"The cedar had been the centrepiece of the garden for a hundred and forty years. Canopy's survey made the case for preservation when every other contractor had recommended removal."
In the autumn of 2024, a Category A cedar of Lebanon on the grounds of a Grade II listed Dulwich estate was flagged by a structural engineer as potentially hazardous following root heave. The estate manager, tasked with protecting both the listed structure and the tree's TPO status, commissioned a full BS5837 arboricultural survey. Canopy's team identified a cavity in the primary scaffold limb and recommended targeted crown reduction rather than felling — a recommendation that satisfied the local planning authority, preserved the tree's amenity value, and avoided a six-month TPO application delay. The work was completed during a single overnight window.
